Gone Baby Gone (2007)

Affleck proves himself a more than capable director here. It starts out as a child-abduction mystery film (something I personally don’t enjoy, but can recognise when executed well, as was the case here), but later morphs into a more interesting look at parenting, and family relationships.

The genre conventions tick through in a pretty workmanlike manner for a lot of the film, but the ending is strong enough to justify the time.

I give it three shots, and a doll.
