Batman: Gotham by Gaslight (1989) by Brian Augustyn & Mike Mignola

A very fun, creative Batman story set in a steampunk Victorian era setting. Batman transposes really neatly into such a setting; it brings out the detective and noir aspects really well.

Mignola’s art is really nice, it pairs very well with the premise of the story and is enjoyable in its own right.

It’s no brilliantly told story, but it’s a very charming, inventive one. I also quite liked the romance; much more pleasing than the usual Batman romances. A slight read, but a very enjoyable one.

I give it three zeppelins, and an elusive killer.
