The Jungle Book (1967)

A fun musical romp through the Indian jungle. The story is shorter and shallower than most similar Disney films, but the music is as compelling and catchy as usual.

The visuals are nice, some of the painted backgrounds are particularly pretty, and the animals are animated in amusing ways. The voice acting for the animals is also fairly strong.

I’m surprised how much the film has persisted in the cultural consciousness given how forgettable it seemed to be, but it certainly is pleasant enough. I give it two and a half elephant soldiers, and a beehive.
